Who's the Best of the Four?
The Boston Bruins are one of the top teams in the NHL. They have a lot of young talent and they are expected to make a run at the Stanley Cup this year after a letdown in the playoffs last season. Hopefully at the end of this season captain Zdeno Chara will have the honor of dumping a good old fashioned pitcher of H2O on head coach Claude Julien with a Stanley Cup title. An impressive start to the season has been largely due to some breathtaking goaltending from Tim Thomas. At 15-8-3, the B's mean business and will be playing some tough opponents over the next two weeks against the Flyers and arch rival Canadiens. If Thomas keeps up his tremendous play, teams like Montréal and Philadephia will be no problem. Thomas is 1st in the NHL in Goals Against Average and Save Percentage. Goals Against Average is the average number of goals the goalie allows per game or per 3 periods. Below is a list of the NHL leaders in save percentage.

The Celtics have their work cut out for them this season. Especially with the "New Big Three" joining forces for the Miami Heat. The Celtics showed they aren't scared of the big bad Heat with two blowout wins against them to start the year. They are off to a hot start with some MVP-like play from guard Rajon Rondo. Not only Rondo is playing well, one of the best parts about this team is their excessive depth.

Bottom of the Page
Arguably the most beloved team in all of Boston. The Red Sox have been very disappointing ever since 2007. They are the only team of the four who Did Not make the playoffs in their previous season. The Yankees failed to win the World Series, which is always great news in Beantown. With free agency officially under way, the Red Sox will hopefully make some big moves to get things back on track. Unfortunately, the Yankees have already showed that their fat wallets will be open again this off season, making a claim to offer top free agent pitcher CLiff Lee big money. Big money? More like big surprise... We can assume Lee will be wearing pinstripes next year with the contract he will be offered from New York. Only making things that much more challenging for the BoSox next season. David Ortiz, the heart and soul of the Red Sox is a free agent this off season and according to Theo Epstein he will be coming back for at least one more year.

He's happy now with the one-year solution, I think in the end, he realized that we weren't in
a position to give him what he was looking for with a multiyear arrangement and this was an outcome
that was acceptable to both sides. That was important to us, to be honest with you. I don't think
we were that interested in picking up an option if it was going to be seen as burdensome to the
player or seen as unfair to the player. That was a component of these talks, to make sure that
ultimately David was content and comfortable playing on the option. Because if you're going to
pick up an option of this magnitude, you want to make sure it works for both sides.
The Pats are coming off a massive beatdown at home against the New York Jets. The Patriots are undoubtedly the NFL's top team after this week's smackdown on Monday Night Football. The Pats are clicking in all phases of the game, but they must keep winning in order to preserve the division.
There is no doubt Boston is a great sports town. With so many winning teams, it is easy
to get spoiled. One could argue that with all of the success from the last decade that Boston sports
fans have officially become spoiled. This argument could especially be made for the Patriots.
After three super bowls and a record breaking season in 2007 behind Bill Belichick and Tom Brady,
fans have grown to expect a lot out of the Patriots. Players like Tom have expressed their dissaproval
with the NE faithful after games. According to NFL.com, Brady saidThe road
environment is very different from our friendly home crowd, who, when I looked up, half the stadium
was gone when we were up 21 points early fourth quarter, which I wasn’t so happy about. I don’t think
the Jets fans leave early. They’re going to be loud the whole game.
I totally agree with what Tom
is saying, but it is hard to disagree with the fans as well. Everyone knows if you don't leave in the
fourth quarter at Gillete Stadium you'll be sitting in the parking lot for an eternity. There is no doubt
Boston fans have become spoiled, but it's also tough to blame them when we watched the most prolific
offense in NFL history three seasons ago, and now have to watch a team struggle to move the ball against the
Cleveland Browns. Boston fans may be spoiled, but at the end of the day, we aren't unruly Philadelphia
fans, so all is well.
