Kristiana's Assignment 4-B Page
I have decided that this is going to be a personal page. Although it is going to be about where I work, this is not going to be a business-orientated page. I currently work through the Seymour Osman Community Center in Dover, NH at an off-site location- the Woodman Park School, also in Dover. My official title is Youth Development Coordinator, which is just a fancy name for an amazing job!
THE SOCC at Woodman Park School runs an after school program for students grades first through fourth. Program lasts from the end of the school day at 3 p.m. and ends at Pick-Up hours at 6 p.m. I arrive at 2:30 and prepare snacks or activities for the day with my co-workers and supervisors. At three, each Aid goes to their designated homeroom. Typically each aid stays with the same homeroom but some are switched around on certain days. I began working with the first grade back in October and have just recently transitioned to second grade while we have a large number of interns. In the first hour we have homeroom lab where the students complete their work for the day, do reading, and possibly play a few games or activities. From 4p.m. to 6p.m. some students report to their respected enrichment programs while others are a part of Open Gym where we play games or do other fun activities.
Hopefully this will give some insight as to what we do at my work and also a little information on an important role in the lives of these children.
Although I am providing information about a current program, I am not looking to benefit financially in any way from my site. This site won.t require a lot of maintenance since the program.s information is quite reliable. I hope to provide enough information so that the person viewing my page can gain an understanding of my job and how beneficial it is to both the student and me, the Coordinator/Aid.
My audience includes anyone interested in working with children (even possible work/study students since it does qualify for financial aid), possible future teachers, interns, and anyone else interested in this line of work.
The complete final project is due May 5, 2009.
Lengthwise I will have one main page and around 5 other pages. There will be enough information to meet the requirements, give enough to the reader, and not bore them with useless information.
The exploratory theme would probably be best for my web page. Since I am going to be providing information about my work/ the program, there is no specific order to the site. The person viewing my webpage can choose from the menus to go directly to the information they are interested in.
