After using Whitepages.com to search from my name I found that there was only one hit that was shown with a man from Orlando, Fl with the same name as me. I figured that there would be at least a few more people out there, but I guess it is only b/c it is a within the whitepages.
I searched PeopleFinder.com for my name a surprisingly found 18 hits, which is more than I expected. They were mainly found in California and Florida.
Next I searched yahoo's search engine for my name and came up with 344,000 hits. The strange thing about this was that almost the first 10 pages or links were all links to kyle keatings that played or play football. This is very interesting to me because I have played football all my life and played for my freshman year here at the University of New Hampshire before I got medically red shirted for a broken neck.
The second search engine I decided to use was google. Throughout searching google I found that there were 334,000 hits. Through looking over the links that were provided, the first one that poped up was a link to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats Football and my information was accessible to the viewers.
Yahoo
Yahoo is a user friendly search engine. With this search engine you can
search phrases in quotes. If you find a search that does not satisfy your
needs you can add or subtract words by using + or - signs to keep the
words you want to search for. I searched for Rascal Flatts and country
music finding 2,060,000 hits.
Google
Google is also another user friendly search engine. This search engine
allows the user to quote phrases as well and uses plus and minus keys to
add of take out links that are unwanted. When I searched for Rascal Flatts
and country music I found 697,000 hits.
Altavista
Altavista is not as easy of a search engine to navigate through.
Altavista does not take whole phrases in quotes and break them down.
Although the search engine does use plus and minus keys to add and
subtract words that one does not want to be foudn in links related to
Rascal Flatts. After searching with Altavista I found there to be
2,060,000 hits with seems to me that I needed to be more specific in the
search.
Based off of the information that I recieved through each search engine the one I liked the most was google. Google seems the most user friendly to me. This search engine seems to always know what I am thinking with the phrases or words I type in to find the information I need.
After searching through a metasearch engine, Mamma.com, I found there to be only 75 hits. From the information that I was looking for I feel as though the metasearch engine was the most helpful in its search, where as it brought me a small amount of links, but with the most useful information.
