Sources for Graphics on Web Pages
There are many ways to create and obtain graphic images. You can make your own images with a digital camera or scanner. You can draw your images using a paint or draw program such as Gimp, or you can use free clip art collections.
If you use any images from a web collection, be sure to give credit to the site.
Do not right mouse click and save an image from a web site that does not provide free clip art collections without getting permission from the web page owner.

Guidelines for using graphics on a web page include:

- File size is important.
Keep the images on a single page under 60KB.
- File format can be .gif, .png, or .jpg
Use jpg format for photographs with 24 bits of color definition.
Use .gif format for line art or animated cartoon characters.
Use .png for lossless compression of 24bit color images.
- Images must support the content of the page and have a purpose.
- Codes for images should indicate an alt property to describe the graphic.
- Every image tag should indicate the height and width of the image measured in pixels.
- Reuse images to conserve load times.
Images for your web site.
- Store all images in a separate folder on the site.
- Size and name images before you upload them to the folder.
- Use a thumbnail (small) image as a hyperlink to a larger image.
- Images can be graphic links such as buttons.
