Ben Fowler
associate professor of applied business management

Ben has many years experience in human resource management, organizational behavior, and the people side of business in general. His recent focus has been on the transformation of organizations and individuals using spiritual tools. Ben is an entrepreneur who has managed businesses of his own and for others, and has consulted with major national corporations. He currently runs a small practice in counseling and psychotherapy from his home in York, Maine.

Advice for first-year students:
This is your first real job. Take it seriously. Get to know your professors. Take advantage of all that UNH has to offer. Ask lots of questions even if they seem obvious: this is a place where you can make mistakes—then you won’t make as many when you leave.

Jerry Howe
adjunct professor, applied business management

A part-time instructor for the applied business management program, Jerry draws on 25 years of experience in UNH Cooperative Extension Service, where he was a community development specialist, both teaching and working with community outreach. In addition to teaching, Jerry lends his expertise as a civic volunteer in Portsmouth, N.H. He works in the lobster industry, and is a business consultant in conflict management and strategic planning.

Bill Scott
professor of applied business management

Senior faculty member and creator of the applied business management program, Bill Scott is a specialist in human resource and sales management. He spent 12 years as a personnel manager for large manufacturing firms before coming to the Thompson School.

After school: Bill is the author of The Tale of Samantha Skunk, a children’s book and program that advocates smoking cessation among children.

Dave Tooch
associate professor of applied business management and chair

Dave's background is in manufacturing and managerial accounting. His experience as plant manager for a large forest products firm gives him a unique perspective that is valuable to all students. Dave is active as commissioner of local youth sports leagues and claims to be an excellent referee.

Steve Tuttle
associate professor of applied business management

Steve is an accounting and computer applications specialist with 20 years of experience with microcomputer software and hardware. He spent several years managing small businesses before joining the Thompson School’s faculty.
