My theme for this project will be a guide to taking care of a pet lovebird for first time lovebird owners. In this project I will describe what is needed to care for a lovebird and to make sure that they are happy and healthy. I will go over such things as setting up and cleaning the cage, what to put in the cage, what to feed the bird(s),and how to check for signs of illness. I will also go over harmful things that should be kept away from lovebirds such as food that is poisonous to lovebirds and things that could hurt them when they are outside their cage. Lastly I will go over lovebird behaviours.
To make my site unique from other websites about lovebird care, I will use my own experiences with taking care of my pet lovebird,so that other bird owners can learn from my examples and mistakes as a bird owner. I will also use my experiences with my pet bird to give other bird owners an idea of what treats and toys their pet might enjoy and the anitcs they might do. I will also use pictures of my own pet lovebird as examples of what pet lovebirds do and are like. Finally, I plan for the information in my website to be a mixture of instruction and a fun guide.
My main goal for this website is to provide instruction on how to take care of a pet lovebird. One of my other goals is to make a fun and helpful website for an audience of first time bird owners so that they can enjoy learning how to take care of their new pet. I also plan to have lots of helpful (and a few humorous) pictures to go along with the text. Another goal of mine is to have an appropriate length of text that is long enough to give plenty of information without being so long that guests to the site become disinterested or can't follow along. Also, I have a goal to set up my website with enough information so that it will not need to be updated very often with new information. Finally, my last goal is to have my website completed by the time the final project is due, all prepared and with everything on the website being XHTML and CSS strict and with all links,graphics,text,and images working properly.
For my project I plan on using a hierarchical navigational scheme for my website. I believe this will be the most appropriate navigational scheme because it will allow users to navigate through many webpages without getting confused and the setup will not be as complex as in an exploratory navigational scheme and it will not fill up my homepage with too many webpage links as often happens with circular naviagational schemes.
