John in his natural surroundingsPietlicki, John - UNH Web Guy

Hi There! You've reached the home page of a white, non-hispanic male with a receding hairline (note the photo on the left), 48 years old (I list my age here only because it forces me to update this site at least once a year), and a bit overweight (can't hide it, so I might as well be honest about it).

During the day I am an Information Technologist at the University of New Hampshire and a relatively late blooming computer user. After 12 years in the construction industry I was lucky enough to get the proverbial "foot in the door" of computing, and I have been descending into the depths of dweebdom ever since.

In my spare time I enjoy the occasional walk in the park or trip to the mountains, generally getting outside whenever I can. On rainy days I like to read, listen to music, watch sports, and fantasize that I will someday A) get really good at playing the guitar, and B) learn to golf well enough so that I don't have to keep searching for my golf ball in the woods (thank goodness for rainy days).

Spring, summer and fall (especially fall) in New Hampshire can enliven the mind and enrich the soul (huh?), but winters can sometimes be tough to deal with. I manage to get through the winters by regularly attending UNH Men's Hockey games. Not only am I a big fan, but I'm also one of the volunteer Webmasters for the Friends of UNH Hockey Web site. Beyond that it's usually back to fantasizing about the stuff mentioned above.

But enough about me - what about you? Do we share any interests? If you have nothing better to do feel free to drop me a line the old fashion way (sorry, no Facebook page, much to the chagrin of my kids) and let me know how you stumbled onto my page. It may not be much to look at, but hopefully it brought a little humor into your life. No worries, eh?!

Believe it or not, this page was last updated on: July 3, 2008

Disclaimers: I am NOT a fan of the Carpenters; I may be a "Web guy" but this page will never truly reflect what I really do - think "cobbler's children with no shoes" and you get the picture; I am not a member of the Hair Club for Men, nor Overeaters Anonymous, but probably should be; I am NOT a fan of the Carpenters; in case you didn't get the joke, "q-tips" is the term some of the youth of our nation (like my kids) use when referring (like my kids do) to those who have reached a certain age (which my kids constantly remind me about) in life; I am NOT a fan of the Carpenters; I am not into gardening at all and in fact can kill a cactus (and sadly, I have); I probably fantasize about a lot of things but hey, let's keep it clean here; I am NOT a fan of the Carpenters.
