On the mountain, your should always keep yourself safe. That means understanding certain courtesies that everyone abides by on the mountain. They are put together in an acronym commonly known as SKYRAD:
- Stay under control
- Keep off closed trails
- Yield at intersections
- Runaway devices required
- Avoid the downhill athlete
- Dont stop where you can't be seen from above

A few more tips
- Go inside to get warm if your fingers and toes get cold
- Wear a helmet, especially if you are in the terrain park
- Stay hydrated, drink plenty of H20 even though it is cold
- Always ski with a buddy
- Stay to one half or quarter of the trail so you do not cut off people you can't see behind you
