Pipe
Pipe snowboarding in my mind is one of the hardest styles of snowboarding. It is a style that resempbles park, involving riders performing ariel manuvers on the wall of a halfpipe made of snow. A halfpipe is, just as it sounds, a half of a pipe carved into the the snow. The pipe on average is around 328 feet long and around 12 feet high and 32 feet wide. It includes and entry ramp giving the riders theinitial speed they need to ride the feature. Next there is the flat, the flat is the flat area between the walls of the pipe. Another important part is the transition or the section of the wall between the vertical and the flat. The vertical is the 90 degree angled wall at the top of the pipe which is attached to the transition. On top of the vertical is the deck, the deck is the area ontop of the pipe parallel to the ground that gives the rides a place to walk. Influenced by skateboarding halfpipe, the riders work their way down the pipe performing areal manuvers on each wall. They take the skills they have learned from riding park features and tweak them for the pipe.
