My favorite musical artist is....
Nine Inch Nails
The most recent live Nine Inch Nails lineup was:
- Trent Reznor
- Robin Finck
- Justin Meldal-Johnsen
- Alessandro Cortini
- Aaron North
- Josh Freese
- Ilan Rubin
but in the studio, it's mostly Trent Reznor and his various machines. NIN is gritty, raw, dark, techno-indistrial. They are perhaps best-known for their mud-covered performance at Woodstock '95, and
the song, "Closer".
My favorite 3 albums are...
- Pretty Hate Machine
- The very first NIN album. The first track, "Head Like a Hole" is one of my all-time favorite songs.
Trent Reznor worked at a recording studio, "cleaning toilets", as he once said, just so he could use the studio machinery to record when no
one else was using it. My daughter was born to track 5 on this album, a song titled, "Something I can Never Have."
- Broken
- This album was actually an EP, not an LP, and contains the two tracks NIN won Grammy Awards for: "Wish" and "Happiness in Slavery".
This was the second studio album, and spawned a second EP of re-mixed tracks, named Fixed.
- The Downward Spiral
- This album contains the infamous, "Closer", which had to be heavily edited for raido airplay, yet was still widely recieved.
"Hurt", made famous twice over when Johnny Cash covered it, is perhaps the darkest, most brooding pice of music ever constructed by Reznor, also appears on this album.
