Coaching Basketball has a lot of aspects that go along with it. Here are some, in no particular order, that I think are very important to those who begin, so that each player develops a strong core.
Fundamentals: Having the fundamental understanding of the game could really make an okay player, much better. The basics such as boxing out, squaring up to the hoop in triple threat everytime you receive the ball, or understanding positioning on the court will increase any players game dramatically. Knowing your role on the court is a huge benefit for both the player and the team.
Ambition: Having the drive to work harder, to be better, to have the desire to win really sets players apart from those who lack the ambitiousness. An ambitious player is not only driven to improve his or her skills but their teammates skills as well. There should be team and individual goals that team should set so that the players have something to work for. Ambition will hopefully kick in and motivate the team as a whole to not only work hard but to have fun while doing it.
