Durham House of Pets was founded on April 20, 1969. Patrick Gates, the fresh out of college founder of DHP, was 23 years old with a passion for animals. After graduating with a pre veterinarian degree he set up this store and it has grown significantly since then. Durham House of Pets started off just selling pet food, treats, leashes, and collars. Patrick wasn't the most lucrative man when the company started up
