James Tucker
James Tucker is a sociologist at the University of New Hampshire. His work is part of an exciting new area of sociology -- Donald Black’s “pure sociology” -- that includes a new strategy for the scientific study of conflict, deviance, and social control. Most of Tucker’s research addresses therapy, a form of social control normally thought to be confined to the offices of psychiatrists and wards of mental hospitals but that is expanding into many other areas of modern life, from the workplace to the pulpit. Tucker teaches courses on social conflict, the sociology of law, sociological theory, the sociology of suicide and nonfiction film. Tucker is also an amateur documentary filmmaker.
