Below is a little information about the wide receiver poisition. Feel free to take a look at it or go right into the countdown, Enjoy!.

The wide receiver is the pass catching specialist in an offense. Their main purpose is to catch passes from the quarterback. To do this the receiver has to get away from the defender covering him. This can be done many ways, and the receiver is often defined by their best method at getting away from defenders. While many receivers don't fall into one specific category, some receivers tend to fall into one of two specific role players:
A receiver still has work to do when a run play is called, however. During a running play a receiver will either run a route with the intent of distracting a defender, or they will actually block for the runner. Very well-rounded or "complete" reveivers are very good at blocking along with their skills at catching or route running.
Receivers also tend to play a large part in special teams. Many kick or punt returners are also wide receivers and they are usually involved in onside kicks.
