Windows Vista™ Aero Glass
Windows Vista comes with Aero Glass on some versions (Home Premium, Business, & Ultimate) and it allows the use of several new features like see-through windows, ability to use sort or flip through open windows like a rolodex, and use Live background. It’s very heavy on graphics and it makes Vista look even more “beautiful.”
If someone needs help and asks how to enable Aero Glass on their new Vista machine, let them know that the computer has to have a 3D video card supporting DirectX 9.
They also will need a new Windows Vista display driver (WDDM).
Here is a link for more information on the driver: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/graphics-reqs.mspx
If Aero is not turned on, have them try these steps:
1. Right click on the desktop and click Personalize.
2. Select Windows Color and Appearance.
3. From the list of color schemes, click Windows Vista Aero.
4. Click OK.
Not sure if rebooting is necessary, but it should let you know what’s next… if it doesn’t work, chances are they need to check and make sure they have proper hardware.
