Nitro vs. Electric
There are many RC Forums avaiable on the internet and there always is a debate about Nitro vs. Electric powered engines. All these threads end up in a flame war and get out of control. Some people swear by Nitro, and some people swear by Electric. And when their ideas conflict things get ugly.
Nitro
Nitro engines are great little machines. Some of these engines can rev up to 40,000 RPMs. Great thing about Nitro engines is when they run out of gas you can just fill the tank right back up with Nitro fuel and can keep on going. The best part about them is the sound they make, they are incredibly loud engines and scream when they are full throttle. There are some down sides though to Nitro engines.... They do require a break in process and require a lot of tuning so they run at optimal performace. Also the price of Nitro isn't exactly cheap, about 30$ a gallon.
Electric
If noise is a issue then Electric motors are the way to go. With new brushless motors some cars can put out some serious power. The great thing about electric motors is that the moment throttle is applied, the maximum amount of torque is instantly applied, so they can accelerate very quickly. Just like Nitro engines, electric motors also have some issues. The initial cost of an electric motor set up is incredibly high. Not only that they run on batteries, which also cost alot of money. And..... The batteries need to be charged, so there goes another chunk of change on a good charger.
