If the current date is earlier than December 2012,

Otherwise, assume I've forgotten about it.
I'm a Ph.D. candidate in pure mathematics
at the University of New Hampshire.
I completed my qualifying exams in August of 2010.
This semester I am acting as a teaching assistant for
Sections 07 - 09.
My primary interests are in category theory and model
theory (and particularly the unification of the two through
model categories), foundations, and topology.
Questions of particular interest include:
- The categorical structure of
Quine's New Foundations.
If the ZF(C) category of sets is a topos,
what is the NF(U) category of sets?
- The incidence geometry of convex open subsets
of the Euclidean plane,
and specifically the conditions
under which two such subsets
have equivalent incidence structures.
is a great place for mathematicians to ask questions.
- StackExchange Mathematics
is a great place for non-mathematicians to ask questions.
- Wolfram Alpha
bills itself as a
computational knowledge engine. It
does calculations, looks up information, and otherwise
makes itself useful.
All of the software on this list is
free as in freedom.
- Ubuntu is the most popular
GNU/Linux-based operating system.
- Vim is my favorite text editor.
- LyX is what I use to typeset most
of my work. It's a visual document processing system based on the
- Less Wrong is a community
blog devoted to refining the art of human rationality.
- Dinosaur Comics
is occasionally educational, but I enjoy it anyway.
