WCW NITRO REPORT (Monday Feb. 15, 1999):

Written by my friend Chris Spirito.

NITRO RECAP: (more damn talking than usual)
Tony Schiavone announced that Kimberly was okay, after she was injured the previous week by Scott Steiner. She suffered a mild concussion and facial lacerations, and Diamond Dallas Page had taken her to a place where no one could find her.

Backstage, Arn Anderson started to beat down Disco Inferno, but was arrested.

Footage was shown of Ric Flair and his friends arriving at an airport in Tampa, Florida. Eric Bischoff was their choffeur. He was dressed in a tuxedo, with a hat, and politely opened and closed the door for Flair and his friends.

Jerry Flynn defeated Saturn with a Spinning Wheel Kick.
- Saturn, in his dress, focused mainly on Jerry Flynn's ankle. Flynn came back with a few of his martial arts and wrestling maneuvers. As Saturn took the advantage, he put his dress over Flynn, and hit him with several punches. Saturn executed a frog splash, and was about to finish off Flynn, but Chris Jericho interfered, while suspended referee, Scott Dickinson was distracting the official refereeing the match. Saturn tossed over Jericho, but was nailed once he turned around with one of Flynn's Spinning Wheel Kick for the win.

Footage was shown of Ric Flair having a conversation with his friends inside the limousine, which Eric Bischoff was driving. They mentioned Will Sasso would take on Bret Hart later in the show. Flair received a phone call from a friend named Jim, and was told of what went down with Arn Anderson and Disco Inferno. Flair requested for Jim to get Anderson out of trouble. After Flair returned from the commercial break, Flair continued to talk with his friend, Jim over Anderson. Flair's friends were concerned that they weren't going the right way. Flair asked Bischoff how long to they would get to the Fairgrounds in Tampa. Bischoff said 20 minutes. Bischoff was then shown talking to someone else, saying he would be "there" in 15 minutes.

Blitzkreig, Psychosis, and Juventud Guerrera defeated Super Calo, El Dandy, and Hector Garza.
- During the match, Tony Schiavone announced that Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Lex Luger got into an altercation before the show, and Mysterio was injured. There weren't many high-flying maneuvers in the beginning, but rather toward the end. Blitzkreig, Psychosis, and Juventud Guerrera took the win with their successful teamwork.

Footage was shown of the woman (Torrie Wilson) coming on to the person behind the camera in her hotel room.

Footage was shown of the limousine in the middle of no where. A helicopter was nearby, putting a spotlight on everything. Eric Bischoff walked out of the car, leaving Ric Flair and his friends locked in. The Wolfpac-NWO arrived in jeeps, wearing black ski-masks. The Wolfpac-NWO told Flair's friends to get out of the car, while they all surrounded Flair in a field. They started to brutally beat Flair down in a grass field, and did it for at least seven minutes straight. Flair was left on the grass field, while The Wolfpac-NWO left in their jeeps.

Tag Team Title Tournament: Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko defeated Fit Finlay and Dave Taylor with Malenko's Texas Cloverleaf.
- Fit Finlay had the win for himself and Dave Taylor with his Tombstone Piledriver on Chris Benoit, but Dean Malenko interrupted. Malenko later strapped Taylor in the Texas Cloverleaf, and just before he officially set it on, Benoit nailed Taylor with a diving headbutt. Benoit and Malenko would go on to face Mike Enos and Scotty Riggs (replacing Bobby Duncum, Jr.) later in the show, while Finlay and Taylor were eliminated, but would go on to a loser's bracket.

Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, and Bobby Heenan got some comments from The Nitro Girls on Kimberly's injury. Spice said she felt really scared, and it had been a rough week for The Nitro Girls. Whisper, crying, said they missed Kimberly, and hoped she was doing okay. Storm and Fire were also there.

Bret Hart defeated Will Sasso (w/Debra Wilson) by making him submit to the Sharpshooter.
- Will Sasso was wearing a black football jersey, blue shorts, red knee bads, and white boots. Debra Wilson, also from MAD TV, accompanied her fellow partner, Sasso. Bret Hart dominated Sasso, who sold the moves very well. At one point, Hart brought a chair and a bottle of water in the ring, to rest. On the outside of the ring, Hart choked Sasso with cables. He wanted to hit Sasso with a chair, but Wilson stopped the move. Wilson automatically turned on Sasso, and nailed him with a chair. Hart dragged Sasso into the ring, hit him in the groin, and strapped him in the Sharpshooter for the win. Wilson raised Hart's hand in the end, and they both hugged each other.

Backstage, The Wolfpac-NWO arrived in their black jeeps. The announcer's had no idea what they were laughing about, since they didn't see the footage of Ric Flair being beaten down in the middle of no where. The Wolfpac-NWO made their ways in through the crowd, instead of the entrance way. Hollywood Hogan, remaining in a ski-mask at some point, said he was not afraid to face Flair at Super Brawl IX. The rest of The Wolfpac-NWO took off to the locker room for some reason. Hogan said he would give Flair a Heavyweight Title shot right then and there. Hogan gave Flair a 10 count to come to the ring, but Flair never did since he was attacked earlier in the night. United States Champion, Roddy Piper, made his way down instead. Piper said he was tired of Hogan, and would give Hogan a reality check (he was sporting a T-shirt of it). Piper said since he was still WCW Commissioner, he would wrestle Hogan then and there for the title.

Roddy Piper defeated Hollywood Hogan by Disqualification, to let Hogan retain the Heavyweight Title.
- Roddy Piper and Hollywood Hogan brawled aorund the ring. Piper was able to slap around Hogan with Hogan's belt. Piper had his usual sleeper finishing maneuver on Hogan, but it was broken once Scott Hall entered. Hall stunned Piper all over with the taser. Other Wolfpac-NWO members made their ways in. Hall dawned Piper's quilt, bowed to the crowd, and acted like a bashful woman.

Footage was shown of one of Ric Flair's friend picking him up from the ground. Flair moaned to his friend to take him to the Fairgrounds.

Footage was shown of Scott Steiner's lawyer issuing a statement. Steiner was supposedly injured by Diamond Dallas Page. DDP would be taken to court.

An Elizabeth and Lex Luger promo was shown, where they insulted Konnan and Rey Mysterio, Jr.

Tag Team Title Tournament: Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko defeated Mike Enos and Scotty Riggs with Benoit's Crippler Crossface.
- While the match went to a commercial break, Ric Flair's friend stopped his truck at a gas station. Flair tried to get out of the truck, but his friend brought him right back in. Scotty Riggs and Mike Enos came very close to beating Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. Malenko and Benoit were about to finish off the match with the same maneuver they finished off Fit Finlay and Dave Taylor with, but were unsuccessful. Instead, Benoit finished off Riggs with the Crippler Crossface, while Malenko held back Enos on the outside of the ring.

Ric Flair's friend continued to drive to the Fairgrounds.

More footage was shown of the woman (Torrie Wilson) coming on to the guy behind the camera in their hotel room. She was in a robe (previously as well), and said to the man behind the camera they still had a few minutes to have fun before he went to go "talk to those guys."

Michael Buffer gave the main event introduction, but The Wolfpac-NWO interfered. Hollywood Hogan said Ric Flair was backstage hiding from him. Hogan gave Flair a 20 count to come down to the ring and face him for the Heavyweight Title. Flair and his friend arrived in their pick-up truck. A beaten down Flair fell out of the truck, picked up a stick from the behind of the truck, and slowly made his way down to the ring through the crowd, falling most of the time. Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko came in to try and put The Wolfpac-NWO to a stop, but were out-numbered. Flair was beaten down once again with a stick. Flair, desperately, tried to fight back, but nothing. The show went off the air with Hall in the back with his taser. He said, "Now you know how it's done. Don't mess it up."

Note: The show consisted of a ton of highlights (mainly of Diamond Dallas Page, Scott Steiner, and Kimberly), which is the reason for the rather short report.

WCW NITRO REPORT (Monday Feb. 8, 1999):

Written by Jon.

Nitro started off by showing Hogan and that guy in the limo from last week. Big deal! Then they show the broadcast booth and everybody talking. They hype up SuperBrawl, and then Larry takes a bow.

Nitro Girls...same as last week, they dance but this time DDP is seen watching them. Interesting? Not a chance.

They show Disco trying to get into a locker room. Hall and Nash finally let Disco in when he guesses the password and Arn Anderson is seen on the floor. Disco wraps a belt around his fist and says "This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you". The Wolfpack leave the locker room and shut the door.

They show a skit of a pool hall. Some lady invites a guy into a limo with her and he goes in. We never got to see who the guy was.

They finally have a match, and it was a pretty good one. It was Blitzcrieg (debut) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. with Konnan. Konnan says his usual crap and the match gets underway. I love the Cruiserweight matches, they are full of very exciting moves. Blitzcrieg was very impressive with some nice twisty-turny moonsault type moves but lost to Mysterio when Mysterio hit him with a frankenstiner off the top rope for the pin. Nice match. VERY impressive.

They show some promo for the retarted Hair vs. Mask match coming up at SuperBrawl. Do you think that anyone cares if Liz is bald or Mysterio is unmasked?!? I don't, I just want to see a good, entertaining match.

They show Raven and Kanyon in the Levy house. Ms. Levy tells Kanyon to make sure Scotty doesn't leave the house. Kanyon says a lot of people are worried about Raven. Raven grins, looks at the camera, and says "What a mark." "Did you ever hear the phrase "Money can't buy happiness? That was written by some really poor guy. Follow." Raven shows Kanyon his car collection. Kanyon asks why they always drive around in pieces of crap. Raven says that Kanyon doesn't get it, and basically says he does his depressed character because it drives his mother crazy. Raven and Kanyon get in a yellow convertable, and leave.

Former TV Champ Fit Finley fights against another former TV Champ Booker T. Booker T. celebrates with the crowd and Finley takes advantage with some good offensive moves. Later Booker T. hits Finley with the Harlem sidekick and Finley rolls out to the floor and they go to commercial.

Hogan is seen in the locker talking to Horace. Hogan tells him all this crap about how he noticed Horace in the past couple weeks and askes him to lead the n.W.o. Job Squad for him. Horace accepts. Hogan tells Horace not to tell anyone about this. Horace agrees, then leaves as Hogan laughs silently. Hogan will eventually tell this to all the n.W.o. job Squad members, and they all will accept.

Flair names Bishoff head custodian.

They now show the end of the Booker T. match as he wins over Finley with a missile dropkick.

Raven stops at a bank and gets $10,000 in big bills. Raven tells Kanyon they are going out but first Kanyon needs the right look.

Bishoff in bathroom, Jimmy Hart leaves the stall and tells Bishoff they need more toilet paper in there. The Faces of Fear enter and Bishoff leaves saying "You guys are sick!" Oooooookkkk. What was the point of that?

Hogan talks to Bryan Adams.

Flair interview. Flair sets up Hall/Nash vs. Flair/Mongo for tonight. Then yells about Hogan. Then tells Scott Hall he still doesn't have a title shot against Bret Hart. Then he calls Bret Hart out. Flair says he must wrestle at SuperBrawl or forfeit the title. Then he tells Hart that he will wrestle against Rowdy Piper tonight for the belt.

The lady is in the limo with that guy.

Nitro girls.

Tag team match. Horace and Adams vs. Windham and Hennig. Near the end of the match, Hennig gets hit with a spike piledriver, but Windham distracts the ref. Stevie and Vincent come down and fight over the slapjack and Stevie hits Adams with it. Hennig falls on Adams for the pin.

Lady goes into the elevator leading the guy and she has a hotel room key.

Hogan talks to Vincent.

Bigelow interview. He starts talking about Goldberg in USA Today and makes fun of his old lady. Goldberg attacks him, takes him down and starts choking him.

Kaos vs. DDP. Should be a good match but everybody knows DDP is gonna win with a Dimond Cutter, and OH MY GOD, he does!!!

Raven and Kanyon at the mall. Kanyon has never heard of "Ver-say-se." (Versace) Raven is going to buy Kanyon some clothes. Kanyon does a little fashion show. Raven and Kanyon come back, just ahead of his mom Ms. Levy says WCW called, and wants him to come back to work. Raven sulks about being alright, then turns to the camera and grins "She's not too bright." What does all this mean anyway?!?

Ernest Miller calls out anybody. Stevie Rays tells Vincent that Miller just called him out. He heads to the ring and sees Disco. Tells that to Disco but he refuses to go which leaves Vincent to fight Miller. After a dumb match, Vincent wins by rolling up Miller.

Big Papa Pump brawls w/DDP in the parking lot and Pump steals his car w/Kimberly in it. Kimberly gets thrown from the moving car.

Larry Z. tells Bishoff to bleach the floors.

Piper fights Hart for the US belt. In the absolute stupidest move, WCW has Piper beat Hart for the belt. More on this in my opinion column.

Main Event: Scott Hall and Kevin Nash (w/Disco) vs. Ric Flair and Mongo. Disco dances, then Hall gets the mic. He does his "Hey yo" routine and it goes to commercial. It shows that lady again disrobing. Who is this lady and why does she have all this airtime on Nitro? My questions were never answered. Horsemen come to the ring and they double team on Hall right from the opening bell. Once everything is in order, Hall and Flair started the match. Hall takes an early advantage, Flair comes back and then the Outsiders pretty much control the rest of the match. Flair locks on the figure four on Hall. Hogan is seen taking the bleach from Bishoff and coming to the ring from the locker room area. Hogan makes it to the ring and Disco is holding back Flair. Flair escapes and Mongo ends up w/the bleach in his face. Flair gives both Outsiders low blows and Disco tries for the Chartbuster but he gets a low blow also. Goldberg comes out, chases away Hogan, spheres Disco, and then Bam Bam comes out and gets dumped quickly. Goldberg yells at the n.W.o. and the show ends.

WCW NITRO REPORT (Monday Feb. 1, 1999):

Written by Jon.

Hi! This is Jon and I am starting a Nitro Report for this site and will have an opinion column about the show, or anything else on my mind.

Nitro started off with Curt Hennig and Barry Windham being seen coming out of a car together before the show. Nothing big just talking about how they are entering into the tag team tourney because of what Nash, Hall, and the Wolfpack did to him last week.

Then they showed the Nitro Girls practicing before Nitro went on the air. Big Papa Pump came out and took Kimberly's arm. She fell over another Nitro Girl on the ground (for some reason) and Pump left saying "I didn't touch her!" To me that was a cheesy ripoff of what happened with D-Lo and Terri Runrels. Anyway, I'll talk about that in my opinion column.

Interview with Ray Mysterio, Jr. and K-Dog. Challenged Lugar and Nash to an any kind of match at SuperBrawl. Later in the show they will accept to a Mask (Mysterio's) vs. Hair (Elizabeth's) match. Cheesy? You betcha!

Then they showed a segment with who I like to call "The n.W.o. JOB Squad" (Horace, Scott Norton, Vincent, Bryan Adams, and Stevie Ray) waiting for a limo. Stevie said that Vincent dropped the ball again and when the limo finally came, he wouldn't let Vincent in. Then Vincent called Nash on the cell phone and he was there in 2 seconds from when he hung up (AMAZING!!). He went into the Wolfpack's limo and went to the arena.

Nirto Girls again. BORING!!!

Ric Flair is shown putting Eric Bishoff on one of those platform things with water that they use at Festivals. Someone throws a ball, he gets dunked, I laugh shortly then get annoyed because that happens a couple times during the program.

Finally a match. Not only that, a TAG TEAM MATCH! WOW!! Bout time!! Hennig and Windham vs. Horsemen members Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. After a decent match, Benoit (legal) hits Windham (illegal) who is pinning Malenko (illegal). This was a stupid move because the referee wasn't even counting and then Benoit walked into the Hennig-plex. Victory goes to Windham and Hennig.

They show Bishoff again...annoying.

Limo segment. The two limos meet (now JOB and Wolfpack) and Stevie is complaining to Nash about how Vincent never showed up to pick them up and then Vincent came out of the limo and Stevie was like "Where did you come from?" Norton says "Can't we all just get along?" Nash says "I like that one" and that's it.

Ric Flair interview. Flair, as usual, looks like he's gonna have a heart attack. It's basically boring but I got a chuckle when Flair called Vincent Virgil. Then Flair names Benoit the #1 contender for Bret Hart's US Title at SuperBrawl, which brings out Disco Inferno and Scott Hall. Hall says he should be number one, calls out Benoit, throws the toothpick in his face, Benoit beats him while Flair beats on Disco. They leave the ring and Flair says that Benoit will fight against Hall tonight (for the #1 contender shot? I never found out).

Van Hammer vs. Chaos. Van Hammer wins with a lousy move. Sandman comes out with the Singapore Cane and barb wire around him and beats on Hammer then grabs the Mic. Says he was the first to do all this stuff with barb wire and then Challenges Bam Bam Bigelow. He comes out, short match with Bigelow winning with a cool move but he did it wrong. He had him up for the British Bulldog's powerslam (on his shoulder), then did a sitting down tombstone, but Sandman's head didn't go between Bam Bam's legs. Looked weird but still cool.

Bishoff again...still annoying.

Nirto Girls.

DDP is seen looking for Papa Pump and Kimberly. He goes to Wolfpack's locker room. When he leaves Pump is seen coming out of the other door and then a lady's hand (Kimberly's?) is seen pulling him back in. Nash tells Vincent to tell DDP that Pump will accept the match and to slap Page in the face. Vincent leaves and tells the same to Disco and that the Wolfpack will come and save him. Disco does it, doesn't get help and gets a Dimond Cutter for it.

Lash LeRoux vs. Kidman in a very good match. LeRoux is very talented but will be wasted as he almost beat Kidman but he lost to the Shooting Star Press.

Bishoff AGAIN. I got a little chuckle this time because Bobby Heenan was going to give all the balls to Bishoff, but tripped and accidently pushed the button. Oh well!

Hogan in a limo, talking to some guy.

Booker T. interview in the back. Nothing big.

Pump vs. Chris Jericho. Pump wins after Saturn comes out in a dress, beats on Jericho outside the ring, throws him in, and submits to the Steiner Recliner.

Lugar and Nash accepts match.

Ernest Miller challenges anyone. So Norton came out and beat him with a powerbomb.

Goldberg interview. Says to Bigelow "You're next"

Bishoff AGAIN!!...STILL ANNOYING!!

Hall vs. Benoit. Pretty Good match. Hall wins with the Outsider Edge from the top rope. Benoit hit the Head But, then Nash came out and Benoit hit him and went to the top for what looked like a moonsault. Hall hits the rope, Benoit gets dropped with the Edge.

Hogan is seen leaving the limo following David Flair. Hogan was in some other state apparently. Back in the locker room Flair is seen watching the whole thing on TV. Hogan was ready to go in the building and jump Flair (David) but then the other dude covered the camera with a hat. End of show.
