• Happy 31st Birthday to Mariah!!! (03/27/01)
• Mariah was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital the night of April 3, 2000 for dehyrdation and complications from food poisoning. While in Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend, Mariah ate raw oysters and became seriously ill.
• At the February 23, 2000 Grammy Awards "When You Believe" was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals and Best Song Written For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media.
• The "Thank God I Found You" single was released in the USA on January 25, 2000, and reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for issue date February 19, 2000. I believe this covers the week of 2/1-2/7/00. Congratulations to Mariah!! "Thank God I Found You" has become Mariah's 15th #1 Single!!!
• On January 25, 2000 "Mariah Carey Valentines" CD was released. This is ONLY available at Walmart Stores
• Mariah made a brief appearance on January 8, 2000 on FOX's Mad TV. She was also listed in the advertisements for the UNCF's "An Evening of Stars", but her contribution was not shown on television :(

• Mariah sings on one song, "The Things That You Do", from Jay-Z's newest album. Mariah's #1s Video Collection is also now in stores!

• Mariah appeared on LIVE! with Regis and Kathie Lee on December 14, 1999 to promote her FOX Mariah Carey Homecoming '99 Special (which was taped October 30, 1999)
• Mariah received the "Artist of the Decade" award at the 1999 Billboard Music Awards on December 8, 1999. She was presented this award by Patti Labelle. Mariah was not even advertised to be on the show, but obviously made an appearance to accept this great honor. Congratulations Mariah!

• "Rainbow" debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. However! Mariah sold 322,800 copies in the first week of sales, which is an all-time record for Mariah in first week sales! (1998's #1s Album had 210,000 copies sold in its first week of sales.) "Rainbow" remained at #2 and sold 228,000 copies its second week of release. "Rainbow" dropped to #7 in week 3. "Rainbow" is currently at #12 in its 4th and 5th week of release.
• The "Thank God I Found You" video is now playing on MTV and VH-1.
• "Heartbreaker" is #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has gone Gold! It was #1 for 2 weeks. This is Mariah's 14th #1 Hit! Mariah also just passed the Beatles as being the artist with the most total weeks at #1. Congratulations Mariah!

• The Ultimate Grammy Box features Mariah's performance of "Vison of Love".
• Mariah said on MTV (11/2) that after this promotional World Tour for "Rainbow" she will be working on her movie, "All that Glitters". She said she plans to tour in support of that project. So hopefully we will see a tour in late 2000/early 2001!
• Mariah appeared on NBC's "Today Show" on November 1, 1999. She was originally scheduled to appear on Bryant Gumbel's new show, "The Early Show". Due to a proper permit not being obtained in time for an outdoor show, Mariah decided to appear on the "Today Show", after her picture was in ads for "The Early Show". Mariah sang Heartbreaker, Mariah's Theme, and Hero. She talked about how she just bought Marilyn Monroe's piano for about $600,000.00
• Mariah made her movie debut in New Line Cinema's "The Bachelor" on November 5, 1999. In the movie, Mariah plays Ilana, an opera singer, ex-girlfriend, and potential bride to star Chris O'Donnell, who has 24 hours to get married and collect $100 million. Mariah will also star in and record the soundtrack for Columbia Pictures' "All That Glitters." The movie is based on an idea of Mariah's about a singer who is discovered by a DJ whom she becomes involved with and eventually leaves when her success challenges his need for control.
• The "Heartbreaker" and "Thank God I Found You" videos can now be seen on MTV, and heard on the radio. The video is directed by Brett Ratner and features Jay-Z. The single was released September 21, 1999.
• Mariah appears on "Pavarotti & Friends for Guatemala and Kosovo", singing Hero (w/Pavarotti) and My All. This concert was held June 1, 1999 in Modena, Italy, and also featured Ricky Martin, B.B. King, Gloria Estefan, and Joe Cocker.

• "Mariah Carey Around The World" is now available as a home video and DVD.
• Mariah has been named a national spokesperson for Nickelodeon’s The Big Help, the network’s year-round campaign which empowers kids to volunteer in their communities. Carey will participate in the network’s annual Big Help-a-thon this fall. Mariah participated in a park makeover in New York City on April 24, 1999 to celebrate the network’s Big Help Week. Mariah joined Nickelodeon and children from New York in working on five city parks.
• #1's has become the best-selling foreign album in Japan of all-time.
• The international version of "#1s" features 5 new songs. It has 1 extra new song, a cover, called "do you know where you're going". There is also a version of #1s out there with Spanish versions of 3 hits.
• Chris Nickson, author of "Mariah Carey - Her Story", has released "Mariah Carey Revisited".
• Mariah is on both JD and Kelly Price's debut albums.
• A live version of "Hero" is on the Diana, Princess of Wales: Tribute album.

I saw Mariah in concert at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, MA on November 9, 1993. It was a great show and she sang all her hits. She began with "Emotions" and ended with "Vision of Love." • Mariah Carey appeared at the Michael Jackson and Friends concert on June 25, 1999 in Korea. Mariah sang "I Still Believe" and "Hero" at the concert. From what I've read, Mariah said she will return to Korea next year with a concert and she seemed to get along great with the fans.
• "#1s", in stores now!It features all 13 of her number one hits, plus "Sweetheart", "When You Believe" w/Whitney, "Whenever you call" w/Brian McKnight, and "I Still Believe".
• The "I Still Believe" single has gone platinum and had a peak of #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
• Mariah was named Best Female Vocalist in her category in the 1999 Playboy Magazine music poll.
• Mariah was honored at the Congressional Award Foundation’s black-tie benefit in Washington, D.C. on April 21, with the 1999 Horizon Award. She was recognized for founding the Fresh Air Fund’s Camp Mariah in Fishkill, New York, and for recording a television spot urging people to adopt or become foster parents to New York City children.
• Mariah Carey led the list of nominees for the National Council of La Raza’s ALMA Awards, which honor Latino entertainers. Mariah's nominations include: Best Song for a Feature Film and Outstanding Music Video for "When You Believe". The ALMA American Latino Media Arts Awards were presented April 11, 1999 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California and were televised on ABC in June.
• There was a Makeover Show on MTV earlier in 1999, and one of the people tried to look like Mariah. They didn't really succeed.
• Mariah turned 29 on March 27, 1999!
• "When You Believe" won the Oscar! Mariah and Whitney performed the song live at the Oscars on March 21, 1999!
• The Mariah Carey European Promotional Tour was run from February 26th in to the first week of March 1999.
• Mariah was named one of the top 10 "Women of the Year 1998" in Glamour magazine.
• "Butterfly" ranked #7 on the Top 50 albums of 1998 in Billboard magazine.
• The Prince of Egypt opened in theaters on December 18, 1998.
• Mariah appeared at the Billboard Music Awards on 12/7/98, and was nominated for "My All".
• On 11/17/98, Mariah had an in-store album signing at the Virgin MegaStore/Union Square in NY for "#1's.
• Barbara Walters interviewed Mariah on the November 13, 1998 edition of ABC's 20/20. Barbara asked Mariah a lot of questions about her personal life, but nothing her fans weren't already aware of.
• Mariah was nominated for Best Female Artist at the 1998 MTV European Music Awards, as were Celine Dion, Natalie Imbruglia, Janet Jackson and Madonna. The show aired on MTV on November 13, 1998. Madonna won the award.
• Mariah had a live chat and video event on 11/10/98.
• "My All" was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles. It was Mariah's 13th #1 single. The only people ahead of her are the Beatles (17 #1's) and Elvis (20 #1's).
• Mariah was named "Entertainer of the Year" at the 4th Annual International Achievement in Arts Awards, Sunday, October 11, 1998 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. (a benefit for The Whitney Houston Foundation for Children)
• Mariah presented an award with Whitney Houston at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, 1998. If you did not get to see it, try to catch a replay sometime on MTV. They present the first award and it is a must see. Mariah was nominated for Best Female Video - Honey Remix featuring Puff Daddy & the Family, but did not win.
• The 1998 Soul Train Lady Of Soul awards aired live in syndication September 3, 1998. The event was at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Mariah received "The Entertainer Of The Year Award (Aretha Franklin Award)" and opened the show singing the "My All - Stay Awhile Remix" with guests Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz.
• Mariah was scheduled to be headlining KMEL's first ever "All Star Jam", which was scheduled to take place August 29th at the Shoreline Ampetheatre in San Jose, CA.
• Mariah was on the PBS special Patti LaBelle "Live on Broadway", and sang "Got to be real" with Patti. The show was taped in June 1998 at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom. Check local listings for dates and times.
• On June 13,1998 Mariah was scheduled to perform at Edison Field in 'Wango Tango,' a concert put together by radio station KIIS 102.7 FM.
• Mariah was scheduled to be in Dallas, Texas for the first time ever! Dallas Mayor Ron will be presenting Mariah with a special award. She is attending the Kiss Party 98 given out by KISS FM 106.1. The Show took place on Friday night, June 5th, 1998.
• Mariah was scheduled to perform at the radio station Z100's "Z-DAY:New York City's 100th Birthday Blast" on Sunday, May 31st at Radio City Music Hall. Proceeds To Go To End Gun Violence.
• The single for My All/Breakdown was officially Gold and Platinum Certified by the RIAA on May 22,1998.
• The World Music Awards were held May 6, 1998 in Monte Carlo and Mariah Carey performed twice (including "Honey") and was given the top honor: The Legend Award for the Best Selling Artist of the Decade.
• Mariah was scheduled to appear on the Australian TV show Speak Easy: March 31 - 9:30pm, April 2 - 5:00am, April 5 - 6:30pm
• Mariah was scheduled to appear on BET's Planet Grooves on Tue 3/24 @7pm and again on 3/25 @ 2:30pm, 1998.
• GRAMMYS: February 25, 1998, Mariah was nominated for: "Honey", Best Female Pop Vocal Performance --- "Butterfly", Best Female R&B Vocal Performance --- "Honey", Best R&B Song
• Mariah Carey received the following nomination for the 29th NAACP Awards: Outstanding Female Artist. The awards were taped on February 14th in Los Angeles. The show aired later in February on FOX.
• I attended the 1/14/98 show of "CHAMPIONS ON ICE" starring Dorothy Hamill, Brian Boitano, Nancy Kerrigan, Elizabeth Manley, Victor Petrenko, Rudy Galindo, Jozef Sabovcik, and Oksana Bauil. Brian Boitano skates to "They Call the Wind Mariah." For those of you who don't know, that's where Mariah's mother got her name.
• Mariah Carey's "Butterfly" Is Officially Triple Platinum Certified by the RIAA on January 7,1998
• Mariah was VH1's artist of the month for December 1997, and artist of the year for 1997 with over 25 percent of the votes!!!
• "Honey" debuted at Number 1 on the singles chart!!!
• "Butterfly" was a Number 1 album in the United States!!
• Mariah Carey's "Butterfly," released in September, has already been certified gold, platinum, and DOUBLE platinum by the RIAA as of October 15, 1997.
