The pool was a community project. Funds were raised and memberships sold. A board of directors was elected to run the privately owned pool on public land. Thomas O'Shea ran the board and with his help, the pool opened in the summer of 1977. As an interest in competitive swimming increased, a coach and instructors were hired. The swimmers, team, and club as a whole have grown significally, competing all over the area. Our success is measured by the building of our members' healthy bodies, minds, positive attitudes, and friendships. We take pride in our mermaids and encourage you to join!
