A bit about me
Outside hobbies
Once upon a time there was a day when I would have panicked and lied about revealing to the world just how much of a shameless nerd I am, but now I find it endlessly amusing to see just how far into the depths of Nerdom I can make it. First off, I am a level 85 troll hunter on the World of Warcraft, and have been epically geared for at least one of the last expansions. What does this mean to my non-MMORPGer friends? It means I've sold my soul to Blizzard Entertainment and there is no return for me- and I regret nothing. I will admit, I am not the most hard-core WoW player in the game though, to be quite honest I'm rather clumsy at it. At best I can manage for slightly above average, mostly because I am terribly uncoordinated and any sort of jumping puzzle or complex boss has me dead in an instant. My areas of expertise are mostly in healing, or ranged DPS, basically anything I can keep a distance away and blindly shoot at or heal without moving. Which means I detest rogues for many, many reasons.
Another massively nerdy weakness of mine is role playing. No, not in the Dungeons and Dragons sense where you go to meetings and such, but rather forum-based role-play. It's in essence a pick a fictional character from some media (TV, books, games, ETC.) and find a game setting to try and write them in. The settings can vary, and are created and modded by other players (I mod a game myself). The role-playing is done in a collaborative writing style. One person makes a post, and other players respond by 'tagging in', much in the same way our discussion board works. Each game has their own set of rules, and while people mostly do play well together, not everyone is always on the same page. Mods monitor this sort of thing, and if someone is making the game less fun for the general populace for whatever reason, they are warned and if that's not heeded, banned. I've had a few run-ins with this myself, but it's rare overall. Most people I know in these games are sweethearts and total fellow nerds. Even if I ever do give up the hobby, I don't think I could quit the people.
