How We Use Access

Although it is similar to Excel, Access has many more amazing capabilities. Access can be used to run queries, create reports and forms, and show the relationships between variables. When we discuss profits and inventory and the like, it is helpful to be able to prepare reports to present to the executive members. We also use Access to create forms for certain products and customers that we ask our sales associates to fill out and track for us. Another useful part of Access is the ability to see the relationship between different variables. For example, we can use Access to tell how many customers are repeat customers, what types of products they usually buy, and which sales associate they buy from. We can tell if one sales associate has more sales than another, and which types of products they sell the most of. If we have a lot of repeat customers for certain products, we may try to develop a rewards program to keep them coming back. Our sales associates may receive bonuses or raises or could be promoted to working as a specialist in whichever product they sell a lot of.
