After you have put all of the hardware together, there are many, many extras that you can add to your new computer. You can add DVD burners and CD burners. These will let you take your home movies and put them on DVD or make your own music mix. You can add colored lights to your case to make it stand out at night. Some people put stickers on their cases as well. Another thing that a lot of people add is some form of a temperature monitor so you can monitor the condition inside your system.
The operating system you install on your system is up to you. Most people choose some form of the Windows operating system. Other like Linux or RedHat. Basically the whole processes of building your own computer is up to you
