The Boston Red Sox did not make the postseason this year as they were stopped short by being just one game out of the playoffs. They have recently gone through some changes in the organization by changing their GM Theo Epstein and changing their head coach Terry Francona. In the hunt for the General Manager job is Mike Maddux who is a pitching coach for a different baseball team known as the Texas Rangers. He is also being looked at to fill the same job for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. In an interview about the situation he was quoted saying,
"Unbelievable to hear those two teams have interest. Both storied franchises, full of tradition, synonymous with history. The ballparks are shrines, and they have great fans year after yearI'm humbled to find how highly some other organizations feel about me. It's come upon our family and me quickly. Just last week we were in the World Series and managing another club was not in the gameplan.Pitching and defense are considered the foundation of a winning team. The better you pitch and catch, the better chance you have of winning. With that being said, I guess being a pitching coach is a level away from managing."-(Maddux)
The New England Patriots have now continued their great season by becoming 5-2. After a tough loss to the Steelers last week Tom Brady was quoted saying, We all have to individually look in the mirror and figure out what we need to get better at.
They are heading into a big game this week against the New York Giants. The New England Patriots have the number one wide receiver, the position who catches the football, in the league which is Wes Welker and the number one quarterback, the position who throws the football to the wide receivers, in Tom Brady.
The Boston Bruins started off their season with raising the Stanley Cup Banner to the ceiling on opening night, but since then, haven't been too strong. Currently with a record of 5-7 the Bruins are looking to turn their season around and prove to people there's no such thing as the Stanley Cup Hangover.
