After the King of Skyrim is killed, a civil war breaks out amongst the Nord race (tall and fair-haired humans who are known to resist cold like -0° and magical frost). The sides are split into people who wanted Skyrim to secede from the empire now that the King is dead, and those who want Skyrim to stay in the Empire and choose a new King to rule. The character is on his way to his execution for working with a group led by the King's assassin called the Stormcloaks
. A dragon saves him from his eventual demise and after he escapes, he finds out that this civil war was predicted by the Elder Scrolls. The character is asked by the gods to fend of the return of Alduin (The Nordic god of destruction, who was said to consume the world with black dragons), and save the world.

Like other Elder Scrolls
games, the game is completely nonlinear. That means that the player can experience the game any way that he/she desires. If one wants to focus on quests, he/she can. If one wants to focus on walking around and enjoying the scenery, he/she can as well. There are many different ways a character can utilize the different ways he can fight when in combat. One can interchange between magic, a sword (like this, †, but much larger!) a shield, and a bow. But, being able to use both hands during combat can offer many different experiences depending on how the player likes to experience the game. Character progression is of utmost importance in this game. A character can gain experience by completing quests or just continuously fighting monsters. There are eighteen specific skills that are divided evenly amongst the three trees of magic, combat, and stealth. Again, leveling up allows the player to choose which perks in those skill trees he/she would like to upgrade.
The players effectiveness relies on his skill of use of his weapons and armor. These can be bought at markets in the towns that the character finds or forged together with some of the many items found in the world of Skyrim. The weapons and armor that he finds/forges throughout the world all have differing abilities. Blades are good for close-combat sitations, usually when the player is in a one-on-one scenario. Magic can be used in a multitude of ways. Some spells can be used to heal the player, while others can be used to insinerate the enemies in a whirlwind of fire. The player will later get these powers called dragonshouts, which are powers harnessed from the soul of a dragon. These shouts give the player extroardinary abilities and can be quite advantagous in a battle. Bows are specifically used for long-range combat, but can be used to block attacks if needed. A shield is primarily used to block or lessen the damage of attacks, but can also be used offensively to bash the opponent. In other words, this game is specifically made for the hardcore and dedicated gamer. This game is not for people who only play COD

Skyrim has been in development for over 5 years. Development for this game started basically right after its predecessor, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, was released in 2006. It did not go under full development, though, until the release of Fallout 3 in 2008. After that, the focus shifted on how to make Skyrim the best Elder Scrolls game to date. The new engine that they specifically made for this game, called the Creation Engine, provides amazing attention to detail in the game. The flowers will look vibrant and alive, the rocks will look dense and jagged, and the clouds in the sky will float by as normal clouds would (H20 vapor!>. The player can now interact with NPC's, or Non-Playable Characters, in real time, as opposed to in Oblivion the environment around you and the NPC you are talking to would freeze. After the conversation was over, the environment would spring to life and make the player feel a little disjointed with the world. Now, NPC's can move around and make gestures as other NPC's walk by while you are talking to him/her. Lastly, Skyrim's 150 dungeons were designed by 8 very talented people.

Jeremy Soule is the Composer of the Soundtrack of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. He has been one of the greatest composers for video games for the past 15 years. Soule has worked on iconic games such as:
He's also worked on films, such as The Walk and Witch Creek. He has won several awards from many prestigious video game establishments and will continue to be a driving force in scoring the best games that come to the market today. In an interview with The Armchair Empire, he was asked, Does the interactive nature of games make composing music for a title easier or harder?
This was his response:
It is much harder to compose music for entertainment that's interactive. The variety of elements and options that constitute today's computer and video games require a myriad of different musical arrangements and compositions. From one scene to the next, I often compose the same piece of music about a dozen times, dropping one instrument for another, switching tunes back and forth, adding new sounds, etc. It's a tremendous amount of work but for me, it is very gratifying to create music that stirs the player's emotions and draws him further into the game.
Bethesda Games has been a major driving force in video game production over the past 15 to 20 years. They care deeply about their customers and make sure that a quality product is being put out on the market for their customers to enjoy for many hours.
