Assignment 6:Hate and the Internet
- Hate speech is, outside the law, communication that vilifies a person or a group based on discrimination against that person or group.-- From Wekipedia
- I agree the opinion that placing limits on free expression in order to deal with the problems posed by hate speech.Although,I support that everyone should have right to express their viewpoint freely, frequently there are some aggrensive sppech happened which make bad influence to people.I believe this kind of speech will endanger security of society. That's why I think the action that to limit free expression is reasonable.
- It is right to reach an international consensus about hate speech. However,I disagree that to set up the same standerds on the internet. After all, people in different countries have different religions and cultures. Thus, it is not easy for people to get same standards.
- I think the censorship and the filtering of hate group websites is appropriate. Nowadays, internet is a public media. Any information posted in the website will be realized by millions of people immediately. And if the passage contains any dirty information, which cause a bad sensation from people. So it is necessary to prevent this situation.
- In my opinion, they should be responsible for actions. Because their actions which creat this kind of website causes many commits happened and many people see those.
- Yes, I would advocate special restrictions on making hate-related material available to children via the Internet.Children are pure and full of curicity. we cannot make these children get close with those hate-related material. Thus, we need set up some restrictions on those mateirals, the best way is to give the limitation of age on the websites. People can cencership the identification of people's real ages. Furthermore, our parents also can set up some effective Firewalls to prevent children's computers.
- Yes, the terms "online" and "offline" has specific meanings inregard to computer technology and telecommunucations. In general, "online" indicates a state of connectivity, while "offline" indicates a disconnected state.-- From Wekipedia
- Yes, these they are different. The former is applied into object which contains bad information and gulity element. And the lattrer is applied into the object which contains legal information. Therefore, the former stander is more severe than the latter standard.
