Final Project Details
- Theme
- The theme of my web presentation project will be guitar
tablature (tabs) tutorial. Id like to demonstrate to a beginning guitar
player how to read tabs, well enough to enable them to read any tabs to
any songs they want to learn. Tabs much easier to read for people that
struggle with reading music, because instead of reading notes and scales,
you can view the pattern in number form. I personally struggle with
reading music so much that it bothers me to the point that playing the
song is no longer enjoyable to me. Tabs have helped me to learn many songs
in an efficient way.
In order to make my web presentation project unique, Im going to
personalize it by actually demonstrating with my own guitar how to use
tabs to play a song. I hope to chose two songs of different genres in
order to make my website more interesting to a broader scope of people.
The first song will be tabs for the lead guitar, and the second tab will
be for rhythm guitar. By demonstrating both lead and rhythm guitar,
different levels of difficulty of tabs will be demonstrated. This will
also demonstrate that tabs are not only for a certain genre of music, any
guitarist with any taste in music can utilize tabs.
- Goals
- My goal for this website is to enable any guitarist to read
tabs, which can open up musical doors for people, such as myself, who
struggle with reading traditional music sheets. By choosing two different
genres to demonstrate, I hope to make my website more appealing to many
guitarist with different tastes in music. The graphics on my webpage will
be shots of my own hand and guitar demonstrating the different finger
positions demonstrated by the tabs that I will also create myself. The
tabs will probably be produced on my computer, where I can create my own
art to use for the website. I wont need to update the site once its done,
because the tutorial will just be a demonstration of how to read tabs.
There wont be a place for viewers to request tabs for other songs, which
is why it wont be necessary to update once its finished. It wont cost me
any money to make, and there is no goal to make money.
- Navigational Scheme
- The navigational scheme for my project will be easy to
navigate, because I'm hoping to make a tutorial. Having the navigational
scheme be exploratory will allow the viewers to go to different examples
at any time, which will be helpful when trying to learn and understand how to
read and use tabs. By having the categories home, parts of a guitar, strings and frets, reading notes in tabs, and reading chords in tabs,
anyone learning how to read tabs can jump to different bits of information
with relative ease.
