Final grades are listed below for your section. Please note that your final grade is to the far right, after your project grade.

Details about the calculation of your final grade are listed below.

Grade calculation:

• Q is the quiz on UNIX. The quiz was out of 20 points and the quiz grade was worth 5% of your total grade.
• E1, E2, and E3 are the three exam grades. The exam grades are weighted as described in the syllabus (that is, 15%, 15%, and 20% for Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3 respectively).
• HW is your homework average and is worth 25% of your final grade. To calculate your homework average, each homework assignment was equally weighted and the lowest homework score was dropped.
• Attend is attendance points and range from 0 to 5. Attendance is worth 5% of your final grade. The breakdown of points is based upon the number of unexcused absences (where an absence is defined by not signing the attendance roster):
  
  1. 5 points: 0 - 2 absences
  2. 4 points: 3 absences
  3. 3 points: 4 absences
  4. 2 points: 5 absences
  5. 1 point: 6 absences
  6. 0 points: more than 6 absences

  Note: A spreadsheet indicating how many days absent I had recorded for you was circulated in class on April 28.

• Proj is your project grade and is worth 15% of your final grade. The project grades range from 0 to a maximum of 15 points. Fulfilling the minimum project requirements earns a C or 11.5 out of 15 points; a really outstanding, incredibly wonderful project earns an A+ or 15 out of 15 points. Most people fell somewhere in between...
  As described in the project description, I looked for things like originality and creativity (the grading of these things was subjective, of course) as well as whether you included the minimum requirements. Other things that I considered were poor coding (I checked random pages of source code for each project), how well the navigation worked, whether you had the minimum amount of writing, grammatical and spelling errors in your site, as well as the overall look of your presentation. For more details, see our previously posted class project description and class project evaluation.

  If you have questions or concerns about how your project was graded, I will be available to meet with you to go over it in person. Please send me an email to set up a time to discuss it. In the meantime, please do not make any modifications to your project if you want to discuss it.

• Final Grade: For those of you who want to check the math, here are my grade cut-offs:
  • A:     92 -- 100
  • A-:   90 -- 91
  • B+:   88 -- 89
  • B:     82 -- 87
  • B-:   80 -- 81
  • C+:   78 -- 79
  • C:     72 -- 77
  • C-:   70 -- 71
  • D+:   68 -- 69
  • D:     62 -- 67
  • D-:   60 -- 61
  • F:     0 -- 59

  Note: Grades were calculated to the one-tenths place and I rounded up. That means that a 89.1 gets rounded up to a 90 which is an A-.
  
  I know that there were some of you who were right on the border of the next higher grade - there will always be some people whose grades calculate to those cut-offs. Please do not ask me to "bump" your grade up - to be fair, I would have to do that for everyone on the cut-offs and that would just put others on the new cut-offs! However, if I made an error in calculating your grade (perhaps I transposed your exam grade from a 93 to a 39) then by all means let me know about it!
