- Any last words?
- Yes, I am glad you asked: please look at the end-of-semester notes.
- If I can leave you with one last bit of advice, this would be it:
Clean up your Facebook/MySpace account (especially if you are graduating!). Remove any references to alcohol/drug use. Un-tag yourself from inappropriate pictures. Do not leave anything out there that you would not want your mother, father, teacher, employer, future employer to see. Make sure that your privacy settings are such that only friends can view your information. Even after cleaning up, the information may still be out there somewhere so be careful - do not ever post anything that you would not want to see plastered on the front page of the New York Times tomorrow!
12/1/11
- When is the final project due?
- The final project had been due on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at the beginning of your class section. I have updated that so the final project is now due on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the beginning of your class section (9:40am for section 04, 11:10am for section 03, and 3:40pm for section 01). This means that you should not modify your project files after the due date/time or your project will be considered late!
- I will be on campus on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, from 8:30 to 12:30 for any last minute questions that you may have about your project. (I have appointments scheduled from 10:30 to about 11:15.)

- I am new here - how do I log into my account??
-
To log into your account, use "terminal emulation" software. The student
clusters have the software (ask the cluster consultant if you need help).
If you are using your own computer and do not have terminal emulation
software:
- Windows-based PCs:
- See the page about downloading and installing PuTTY (http://pubpages.unh.edu/~cs403d/putty.html) to download the PuTTY application.
- See the instructions for using PuTTY (http://pubpages.unh.edu/~cs403d/putty.html#Using_Putty)
- Macs running OS X and PCs running Linux:
- These have terminal emulation software included - open a
terminal window and give the shell command:
ssh hostname -l username
where- hostname is either zeno.unh.edu or gauss.unh.edu or euler.unh.edu - you choose.
- The characters in between hostname and username are a dash followed directly by the letter el.
- username is your username.
- For more detailed information about finding the Terminal application on your Mac and/or using the ssh command, see the page on using the Terminal application for Macs (http://pubpages.unh.edu/~cs403d/403/mac_terminal.html).
- These have terminal emulation software included - open a
terminal window and give the shell command:
- Although not terribly secure, you can also use telnet to connect to
cisunix.unh.edu: on a PC, go to Run and type in the command:
telnet cisunix.unh.edu
If using the Vista operating system, you may need to enable the telnet application by doing the following first:- Go to the Control panel
- Select Programs
- Under Programs and Features select "Turn Windows features on or off"
- Select the checkbox for "telnet client"
- Wait a few minutes for program to become enabled
-
More information about logging on can be found at:
http://pubpages.unh.edu/~pas/cisug/login.html
- Windows-based PCs:
- Where do I find the CIS Unix Local Documentation??
-
That information was compiled by Paul Sand and can be found at:
http://pubpages.unh.edu/notes - Where can I find more information about WildcatsMail?
-
More information can be found at:
http://studentemail.unh.edu - At one point I filled in a form to forward all my UNH email to my hotmail (or aol or yahoo...) account -- how do I stop forwarding my email?
-
To remove (or set up) email forwarding, go to:
