  1. Hate speech to me is a speech that offends, insults, or threatens groups like race, color, religion, sexuality, or other traits. In our generation hate speeches are more common because of the social networking we have on the Internet. It is a lot easier to make a hate speech online than it is in person because you do not have to be around the person or persons that you are directing your hate speech towards.
  2. Yes, I would advocate placing limits on free expression because not all free expression is acceptable. The hate speeches toward race and sexuality and other traits I feel should be filtered and they are not acceptable in society.
  3. Yes, I also feel that we should attempt to reach an international consensus on how to define hate speech and the standards that apply with dealing with them. I think that we should all agree that hate speech is unacceptable especially on the Internet for all to see.
  4. Yes I think we should filter hate group websites because anyone can access these hate sites, and it could be offensive or harmful to others who do not join these hate groups.
  5. I think that the creators of the hate-oriented websites should be held responsible to those who view the sites and then commit crimes. I feel this way because they are the initial reason the website is there and why people commit the crimes when they see the website.
  6. I don’t think that this hate material should be viewable to children because it’s not something that they should be looking at. I don’t know who we would stop all children from finding it but I do advocate putting restrictions on it.
  7. I think that there is some things that should be illegal online that’s legal offline because when you put something on the Internet then the whole world can see it. And when you say something offline the only people who are there to know are the people around you that you are speaking to.
  8. I think that there’s a difference between hate related material and objectionable material. I think that hate related material could be offensive to a lot more people and could be threatening as well, while objectionable material is a smaller group that is being effected by it. I don’t think that the standards should be the same but I’m not saying there shouldn’t be any standards. I believe there should be standards for both.
