Theme

What my final project is going to be focused on is a guide of Web Comics. It will an introduction to webcomics in general, like "what exactly is a webcomic?", some examples of webcomics, and answering other questions such as those. The basic presentation outline is that the web page will start with an introduction. Describing the general content of the site and what the surfer can expect. It will also provide detailed summaries of various webcomics, not just the content of the webcomics, but the history behind them like how they started up, possible difficulties they encountered and whether or not it has become a profitable venture for the artist.

How this will be different from other sites that provide lists of webcomics is that it is more immersive. Instead of just giving a breif summary of the characters, the history of the site will be given and some info about the artist as well. Also the site will provide an analysis on whether or not an artist can expect to make any revenue by posting comics online. Whether it is from ads, eventual selling of the strips in book form and so on and so forth. It won't just be about some random webcomics, it will be a detailed insight in to a burgeoning new business prospect.

Goals

Some of the goals I hope to accomplish with this project is to make a site that appeals to people looking not only for webcomics, but some history behind them. I would like to have the majority of the site and most of the material ready by at least the 25th of April. So it will be well don instead of a last minute rush. I want to have the reasearch done by the end of March, so I can get a head start on the project and get as much help as I need in setting it up. I am not looking to spend any money on this project unless absolutely necessary. Another goal I have is to email the authors of some of my favorite webcomics, asking them personally how they got into the webcomic biz, what challenges they face and so on and so forth.

Navigational Scheme

As for navigational scheme, the one that I have elected to use for my final project is the exploratory one. I choose this because when a user is going through my site, they may become confused as to which comic they are currently reading about and what about that comic are they reading about. All they would have to do look at the top of the screen, and they would know exactly where they are.
