The theme for my own page is going to be sports-based. I write for TNH, UNH's school newspaper, in the sports department. I thought it would be a good idea, for not only this final project, but for my career after college as well, to put together sort of an online portfolio. That way, jobs can view my work that I submitted in my freshman year of college and compare it to what I plan to produce in my later years. It's an easy way of keeping track of everything I write, and it is a high-tech society, so it would be better to put it online if the first place.
This year I've written for several sports that have been published in the newspaper. Men's basketball is my main cover sport, but since the regular season has ended, I've moved on to women's lacrosse. I have already submitted my application to fill next years sports editor position. It would be a big accomplishment for me to become editor next year, and maybe continue to move up each year. That's why I think this website will promote my work, and hopefully become something that will aid my career in the future.
Anyone who in interested in sports or sports writing. Also, everyone in cs403-01
The post stories that I have written my freshman year for TNH sports, and hopefully use it as an online resume in the future.
The due date for this project is May 5th, 2009
I will use pictures of the athletic teams that have been used this year in issues of TNH to support my page.
The lengths will vary, depending on each story and what it is about. Usually stories range from 400-1000 words each, and I plan to write a summary on my homepage, along with the included links to stories.
Maintenance will need to be performed every time I add a new story to my resume. When a story of mine appears in the online issue of TNH, I will need to add it to my personal webpage as well.
This site will not be used to collect money, as it is purely for view only.
I won't need a whole lot of research for this assignment, as most of what I want to do is what I have already written. I'm sure I will need to do a little more research on different sports and rules though, in order to explain any confusing areas of my stories.
Pretty self-explanitory; the whole thing is my writing and archive of my work. I will write at least a couple of paragraphs on the homepage though, mostly to explain my project and direct any viewers.
I think I will definitely do an hierarchy structure. Each link wll bring the viewer to a set of stories written about a certain sport. For example:
