If you're flying, check the max size of carry on luggage. Do yourself a huge favor, invest in a case that is carry on size. NEVER under ANY circumstances check an instrument, no matter what kind of case it's in. The potential for damage is amazing. You can have the hardest, toughest, most sturdy case imaginable and your instrument may still come back to you dented, bent, unplayable, and completely ruined.
