Breast cancer death rates have dropped 2.3% a year over the past decade,
a greater improvement than any other of the five leading cancer killers.

Taking part in a Breast Cancer Walk will open up your eyes to the kindness of people. You will find yourself surrounded by complete strangers that are all there for the same reason, to find a cure for Breast Cancer. Thousands of people come together one day each year & it is truly something amazing to take part in. If you decide to take part in a Breast Cancer Walk I suggest you bring plenty of H2O so you wont get dehydrated!
Many people feel odd asking their friends and relatives for money, but when it is for such a good cause most people are happy to donate. Being in college I am well aware that many students do not have that much money to give, but even if each one of your college friends gave a dollar each, you will end up with quite a bit of donation money. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure has now raised over one billion dollars, that's right, that is $109!
Everyone could use a good laugh now and again, right? I guarantee that going to a Breast Cancer Walk will make you laugh. Most teams have names on the back of their team t-shirts and many of them are quite commical. My personal favorites have been "Saving Second Base", "Bartenders for Boobs", and "Tips for Tits".
Nancy G. Brinker is the founder of the Breast Cancer Walk. Her older sister, Susan G. Komen, was unable to beat Breast Cancer. While Susan had been battling cancer she told Nancy that when she was done with her treatments she wanted to help other women with Breast Cancer, she wanted to speed up the research process and hopefully help people find a cure. After she passed away Nancy upheld her promise and started S.G.K.C., the foundation that has now spread across the world and that raises millions of dollars every year in the United States alone. Many Breast Cancer organizations are coming together by NABCO in hopes of bringing all Breast Cancer organizations together to raise more money.
In honor of her work, and for setting a template for other advocacy efforts, Brinker was awarded the prestigious Mary Woodard Lasker Award for Public Service in September. Brinker, said the Lasker Foundation, "dramatically increased public awareness about this devastating disease." Still, Brinker says her promise to her sister is far from fulfilled. "We remain focused on one thing -- a world without breast cancer."
Breast Cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells.
