ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Ted Tinker emigrated from the Costa Rican rain forests,
where he was a renowned keeper of turtles and tortoises,
in 1953.

Upon arrival in the United States, he settled with his family near
Seattle, Washington,
where the constant rain and dampness reminded him of home (albeit somewhat colder)
and provided an ideal environment for the 375 premium breeding turtles he
had brought with him from Costa Rica.

It wasn't long before those 375 turtles,
under Ted's care and husbandry,
blossomed into a population in excess of 2,500. In 1969, Ted started supplying
strong, healthy, and especially intelligent turtles to pet shops around Seattle.

In 1974, Ted expanded his operations to encompass the entire Pacific Northwest.
And in 1981 he established distribution agreements that allowed
premium pet turtles from Ted's Turtle Farm to be easily obtained in pet shops
and discerning boutiques up and down the West Coast.

In 1992, Ted conquered the midwest by buying up his largest competitor,
Tulsa Tom's Top-quality Turtles. With a virtual monopoly on high-quality
turtles it was only a matter of time before Ted was "the" source for
turtles from Seattle to San Diego to Miami to Boston.

In 1999, Ted became intrigued with the World Wide Web and soon
realized its potential for bringing his beloved turtles to discerning turtle lovers
in all corners of the world. In 2000, he launched ETurtles.com. It took only
three months to prove the huge demand that existed for turtles via the Web,
and the stock price skyrocketed a full 536% on the day of the IPO alone.

Rich beyond his wildest dreams,
Ted set about using his vast financial resources to promote turtles
and spread his conviction that they are, in fact,
"the perfect pet."
His crowning glory was the court injunction allowing him to enter
his prize stud turtle in the Westminster Dog Show,
where he won second place.
Turtles had really come to the fore in people's minds!

In 2002, Ted decided to capitalize on the publicity
generated by his placing at the dog show and his world-wide network
of turtle-loving professionals, and he formed
Ted Tinker's Totally Turtles.

Our mission is to provide top-quality products and services
to turtles and turtle-lovers worldwide
at the most reasonable prices possible.

Give us a try, and we think you'll quickly see the truth in our motto:

"At Ted Tinker's Totally Turtles,
you'll never have to face the
hard shell!"
