Welcome To The Junction!
About
Welcome to The Junction's website!
The Junction Teen Center is a place in the Upper Valley of
Vermont an New Hampshire where youth (13-20) can find a safe and
productive place to hang out.
The Junction staff provides daily extra-cirricular activities,
along with preparing home-cooked meals daily for the kids who
go to the Junction. Currently, the Junction is staffed by four
professionals and a variety of volunteer peer leaders.
The Junction is located in White River Junction, Vermont, near
establishments like the Main Street Museum, the Vermont courthouse, and
the Tip Top Cafe. The storefront that The Junction inhabits is right on
the main street, and has a prime location for it to be exposed to the
public.
My affiliation with The Junction is that of a peer leader. Over the summer, I worked as
an intern for LISTEN Community Services. The director of The Junction
worked in an office a few doors down, and I found interest in the teen
center. One day I stopped by and found that it was a very positive place
with a lot of great resources. Since then, I have become a peer leader and
spent a lot of time this summer working on events and "hanging out" at The
Junction. The teen center has opened my eyes to new ways of programming
and putting events together, it has also helped me understand people
better and what people really benefit from. Overall, it is a great place
that is part of a great organization.
LISTEN Community Services
The Junction is an affilate of LISTEN Community Services. LISTEN is located in Lebanon, NH
and is able to fund the Junction through private donations and sales from
it's four thrift store locations. LISTEN is a non-profit organization that is active
in the Upper Valley by providing rental assistance, heating assistance, a well stocked
food shelf, cleaning products, and volunteer opportunities, along with a list of other
services. For more information on LISTEN Community Services, click

Here is a little tidbit about LISTEN straight from their website,
"Listen meets the need. As a direct result of our community's generosity,
Upper Valley children, seniors, families and individuals receive a warm meal,
fuel for their homes, holiday presents for their children, and life skill
education to help them transition to successful independent living. Listen
does not rely on state or federal funding. It is our connected community.
donating groceries, clothing or money.that ensures that when our neighbors are
in need, we have the resources to respond.
Now and then things happen beyond our control: an unforeseen event such as
a family medical emergency, loss of a job, or unprecedented heating and
housing costs. As government funding evaporates, Upper Valley residents
living in both New Hampshire and Vermont depend upon Listen to "bridge the
gap."
