CIS Unix accounts are maintained for as long as the owner is affiliated with UNH as a faculty member, staff member, or registered student. Generally, users who leave UNH (for one reason or another) will eventually lose their accounts; the time the account is maintained differs according to the user's most recent status as shown here:
User Status Expiration Time Student 140 days Non-Adjunct Faculty 90 days Adjunct Faculty 120 days Non-Faculty Employee 14 days So (for example) a UNH student graduating in mid-May, and not returning in some other capacity, can expect his or her account to expire 140 days from then, sometime in early October.
-
If you have a (so-called) "Sponsored" account, your account's expiration date was set when your account was created or renewed.
-
If you have any questions about your account status, or its expiration date, please contact the IT Help Desk, or send an e-mail query to your CIS Unix System Administrator.
-
If you are a student, an e-mail expiration notice will be sent to your account two weeks before its expiration date. (If you have some other status, then you may not receive an expiration notice.)
-
Please see this article for information about:
- Setting up an "Alumni E-mail Address for Life";
- Saving your CIS Unix e-mail and address book;
- Setting up forwarding for your e-mail address;
- Retrieving other information in your CIS Unix account.
You should conclude all arrangements for e-mail forwarding and retrieval of your account information before your account's expiration date.
Best wishes to all those leaving the University.
